Sound Relief DVD Out 9 Oct 2009

The SOUND RELIEF DVD is out October 9th in Australia on Liberation. It is a 4 DVD set, with 9 hours of footage. All profits go to the Australian Red Cross.

New Crowded House Album

The band have been recording the new Crowded House album at Neil's Roundhead studio in New Zealand. They are currently doing overdubbing on the album. 12 songs! Release date TBA.

Split Enz to perform in Melbourne on Saturday March 14th for SOUND RELIEF.

The recent bushfires in Australia have been utterly devastating and described as the nation's worst-ever natural disaster. In response, Australia's music community has banded together to perform two benefit concerts in Melbourne and Sydney on Saturday, March 14th.

At the Melbourne Cricket ground:
Hunters & Collectors, Jack Johnson, Jet, Kings Of Leon, Liam Finn, Midnight Oil, Split Enz and more.

100% of the proceeds from the Melbourne concert will be donated to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

At the Sydney Cricket Ground:
Coldplay, Icehouse, Wolfmother, You Am I + more acts to be announced

50% of the profits from the Sydney concert will be donated to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal and 50% will be donated to The Premier's Disaster Relief Fund Appeal in QLD to aid the victims of the Queensland floods.

Tickets will be sold for $75 and will go on sale from Ticketek 132 849 www.ticketek.com.au on Wednesday March 4, 2009 at 9am.

Reserved seating in the stands and general admission on the field will be available for both concerts.

Frenz Auction Round 3 Launches November 20th

Our bi-annual Frenz.com auction has been running throughout the month of November and our third and final wave of items for sale will launch on Thursday, November 20th.

We had initially planned to just do two weeks, starting on November 1st, but we got a number of last minute item donations and so we've decided to do a third round with those items. The first two rounds, starting on November 1st and 6th were very successful, and extremely well supported, so thank you!

While the proceeds haven't quite touched the forum hosting cost yet (About $1500/yr), we are planning to use a large amount of the proceeds towards redevolopment of the site in general.

Why An Auction?

Frenz.com is entirely volunteer run. With the exception of the unwavering support of the Frenz of The Enz fanclub, who have donated many of the items for this year's item, we are not funded or supported in any way by record companies or management. We occasionally get some moral support from the musicians themselves, but for the most part it is a labour of love from fans to the fans.

While the main Frenz.com site itself has been static for some time (but not for long), even though all the work is done for free by fans, the site still incurs fixed running and hosting costs every month. These costs are kindly and happily covered out of pocket by the site's founder, Debbie. We held a very successful auction in 2006, the proceeds of which we put to work. These covered the following:

• The initial costs to the development team of building the Crowded House site
• Hiring a programmer to rescue the old discography database and bring it back to basic working order
• About one month of hosting :)

This time we're aiming higher. The proceeds of this year's auction will be spent on the following:

• Completely overhauling the entire Frenz.com site. Tearing down the old, and building the new. It's old and patchwork, and needs more than a lick of paint.
• Largely expanding the scope of the discography, and improving on the existing structure.
• Implementing as many of the ideas mentioned on the Frenzforum over the last year that we have time and budget for.

As always, a lot of the work will happily be done bye the Frenz.com team for free. We do however have to hire a little outside help, and cover some costs to take the site where you deserve it to be.

We are accepting ideas and input from fans as to what you guys want to see on the site. We're also still looking for PHP programmers to help out too! Email Iarla.

Neil Finn Reconvenes "Seven Worlds Collide" supergroup for album and shows.

Over Christmas 2008 and New Year 2009, Neil Finn has invited the core band from his 2001 Seven Worlds Collide project, plus some other special guests, to create a new album at Roundhead studios in Auckland, New Zealand.

Guests confirmed so far are Radiohead's Phil Selway and Ed O'Brien, legendary guitarist Johnny Marr, founder member of The Smiths and current member of US alternate rock innovators Modest Mouse, Soul Coughing's Sebastian Steinberg, multi-instrumentalist Lisa Germano, Wilco members Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Glenn Kotche and Pat Sansone, Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, along with NZ musicians Liam Finn, Don McGlashan and Bic Runga. All proceeds from this very special recording will go to support the continuing great work of Oxfam International.

And look out - if you think this is just going to happen behind closed doors, you're mistaken - Neil plans to share this unique event with music fans in New Zealand by presenting a short series of intimate and informal live performances at the nearby venue.

Eddie Rayner launches new website

It's come to our attention at Frenz.com that Eddie Rayner, composer, keyboard player and arranger with Split Enz, producer, musical director, piano man for hire with Crowded House, and Paul McCartney amongst others, has launched a brand new website at eddierayner.com.

The site has a feast of goodies for the eyes and ears, and we highly recommend checking it out!

Any readers unfamiliar with Eddie's playing could do worse than to check out the live recording of "Bold As Brass", performed by Split Enz at the Nambassa Festival in 1979, which appears on the MySpace site for the soundtrack record here. It's a performance described by Eddie himself as one of his best.

CROWDED HOUSE TO PERFORM IN MELBOURNE, SYDNEY & HOBART

The Frontier Touring Company are delighted to announce a limited number of very special Crowded House concerts for this November/December, including the band's first visit to Tasmania since reforming two years ago.

Crowded House fans can catch the band in Sydney at the Enmore Theatre, in Melbourne at The Forum and in Hobart at Tolosa Park.

It's been almost twelve months since Crowded House undertook a sold out arena tour of Australia, but they certainly haven't been taking it easy, touring extensively worldwide for the past year with shows in America, Ireland, Russia and the UK's iconic Glastonbury Festival.

Crowded House add 4th Dublin Date - Saturday June 14th at The Ambassador Theatre

Due to phenomenal extra demand, Crowded House have added a fourth date in Dublin this coming June. The band will be taking a trip north of the River Liffey this time to play The Ambassador Theatre on Saturday 14th of June. Ticket and Presale information can be found at frenz.com/crowdedhouse

Crowded House North American Tour Date and Presale Updates, Updates from the Split Enz NZ Tour

As previously mentioned over on the Crowded House site @ Frenz.com (http://www.frenz.com/crowdedhouse/), the band have announced a small North American tour, where they will be playing residencies at some of their favourite intimate venues rather than sticking to the larger capacity places. The band are currently in the midst of recording the follow up to last year's critically acclaimed album "Time On Earth", and have decided to roadtest some of the new material before finishing the record. Our sources tell us to expect very varied setlists with hopefully some new and rarer material sitting along side the songs we all know and love.

Since the initial announcement, there have been some minor changes to onsale and presale dates, and we recommend you keep your eyes on the tour dates page over at frenz.com/crowdedhouse for further information. The band have also announced a second Russian date this coming June, and will be adding a show in Club Port in St. Petersburg on June 25th to their schedule along with the previously announced date in the B-1 Maximum Club in Moscow on June 24th.

Frenz of The Enz Charity Fundraiser Update

This is just a quick note to remind readers about the Frenz of The Enz Charity Project. This year's project has been running since May of 2007, and the goal is $10,000.


Every few years, the Frenz of The Enz fanclub has a charity project to raise some money so that we can spread a bit more light in the world. This year we've been aiming to build a classroom for one of the poorer countries in the world. It generally costs around $10,000 to do this. Education vastly improves the standard of living for many families and the community in general.

Peter Green and the fanclub (not Frenz.com - we're a seperate entity) are administrating the project, and previous projects have been a great success. We'd like to make this one a big success, and we're very close to reaching our target. As of the 28th of February 2008, we've raised $8741.90. That means we have to raise another $1258.10 - YOU can make it happen!

Crowded House "Live At The Fleadh" on UK Television

LifeOne, which is on the Sky Digital platform in the UK and Ireland have asked us to let you know that they will be showing Crowded House's classic "Live At The Fleadh" performance on March 15th. This was recorded at the Fleadh festival in London's Finsbury Park in 1994 at the latter end of the Together Alone tour, and features the Neil Finn / Nick Seymour / Mark Hart / Peter Jones line up of the band.

It will be shown at 21:30PM GMT and again at 3:30am the following morning. LifeOne is Channel 197 on Sky Digital.

Split Enz Add 2nd Auckland Date - Saturday March 29th

With their first show having sold out, and with huge demand, Split Enz have finally announced a second show in Auckland's Vector Arena. The show will take place on Saturday March 29th 2008, and will be the final Split Enz date on their New Zealand tour

This may be a last chance to see the Enz play - So we encourage everyone to make sure to take the opportunity to see the incredible, the legendary Split Enz play a hometown show.

Crowded House have been announced as a headliner at the Live At Sunset Festival in Zurich, Switzerland this coming July. They will be playing the festival on Monday 14th July. Tickets have yet to go on sale - But further information can be found at http://www.liveatsunset.ch.

Third Dublin Date:


The band have extended their residency in Dublin's Olympia Theatre to three nights this coming June. They will now play Monday June 16th, Tuesday June 17th and Wednesday June 18th 2008. There are limited tickets still available for some of the nights, which are on sale from Ticketmaster.ie.

Crowded House play Liverpool and Leigh

Crowded House have announced a further date in their 2008 festivals tour. They'll be playing the Liverpool Summer Pops Festival on July 9th, and tickets are currently on sale from today.

The band are currently recording the follow-up to "Time On Earth" in Neil's Roundhead Studios in Auckland, New Zealand. The band have decided to take a break from recording and roadtest some of their new material in a venue in Leigh, which is about an hour north of Auckland. They'll be doing a three night stint in Leigh Sawmill Café over the weekend of Friday February 22nd through to Sunday February 24th 2008.

Split Enz to perform live on "Campbell Live"

The Enz will be performing two songs on NZ TV show 'Campbell Live' . Drummer Michael Barker will be joining them in NZ and Neil Finn will be home on time from the recent Crowded House Royal Albert Hall show to perform with his old mates. A small taste of things to come on the not too far off March NZ Tour.
